X Factor winner and musical theater star Alexandra Burke is expected to headline a popular music festival in Retford this month, hosted by North Notts BID.
Party in the Park returns to Retford Market Square over the August Bank Holiday weekend on Sunday August 29 for the first time since 2019.
The festival will bring together well-known names, tribute acts and local musicians in a celebration of all that the North Nottinghamshire region has to offer to residents and visitors.

Family harmony band The Bowkers will be back after a successful appearance at the event in 2019 – alongside Ariana Grande, a tribute to Amilia, ABBA Sensation and Hitch, a local band from the 90s and 2000s.
Sally Gillborn, Managing Director of North Notts BID, said: âWe are delighted to count until the highly anticipated return of Party in the Square.
âThe event is a celebration of the spirit and community that make North Nottinghamshire so great, as well as one more step towards a return to normalcy, all in the fantastic town square of Retford.
“The plethora of acts and refreshments means there is something for all ages and interests.”
The event will be hosted by Joe Sentence, Senior Ambassador for North Notts BID, and Alex Cann, both former radio hosts for TraxFM and DearneFM.
In addition to music and entertainment, participants will have the chance to enjoy an outdoor bar as well as food from local artisan vendors.
A large screen will be placed at the Kings Park bandstand, so that those who wish to distance themselves socially can still enjoy the event.
Sally said, âWe want to encourage everyone to come with their friends and family, enjoy the summer and support our local businesses.
âIt’s been a tough year for everyone, so these events are a great way to celebrate the lifting of the lockdown restrictions.
âIt also gives us the opportunity to showcase our beautiful North Notts area and bring traffic back to our downtown areas.
âAt our event in 2019, Wilko sold bistro tables and chairs, charity stores sold picnic blankets and pillows, and Gregg’s even sold sausage rolls.
âSo with bars and food stalls in the square itself and local shops, pubs and cafes open in the surrounding area, this promises to be a big event that will help invigorate the city.â
The event takes place from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and is free.
