The Orillia Concert Band, under the direction of Randy Hoover, returns to the stage on December 4, but the group recognizes that not everyone can come to the theater to enjoy the concerts. The solution? Live broadcast !!

Each Christmas season, the Orillia Concert Band performed live concerts at Orillia’s three largest retirement homes. Due to COVID this is not possible this season, so the idea arose to use modern technology to live stream concerts in senior residences.

Then the group recognized that there were others in the community who couldn’t or shouldn’t attend a live performance in these times of COVID, so the Orillia Concert Band decided to air the broadcasts in live from their next Christmas concerts on December 4 to the public.

This initiative is not free and the group is asking anyone wishing to watch the live broadcasts, if they can afford it, to purchase a $ 15 OCB seasonal fundraiser ticket at the Opera box office. from Orillia. A ticket is not required to access the live broadcasts, but your support will be greatly appreciated. Please note that the date of the fundraising ticket is NOT the date of the concerts.

Both Christmas concerts will be broadcast live on December 4. The first concert starts at 3:30 pm and is a friendly, family-friendly one-hour “Christmas Afternoon Concert” designed for children, young and old. They say Santa Claus is making an appearance!

Later that evening at 7:30 pm, the Orillia Concert Band presents an Orillia tradition, the “Christmas Prelude” concert, with guest performers, singer Christina Bosco and organist Blair Bailey.

To access the live streams, go to the new Orillia Concert Band YouTube channel where you will find a live stream link for each concert. Live broadcasts will be “live” approximately 10 minutes before each concert. To find the Orillia Concert Band channel page, you can search Orillia Concert Band on YouTube, or click this link (and bookmark it): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVTlh3EiRZwZAUEtjjO6NRw

Tickets for performances can be purchased in advance at the Orillia Opera box office or at the door of St. Paul’s Center on the day of the concert (cash only). Interest in these concerts is high, so we recommend that you book your ticket online to avoid disappointment at the door. The seats are limited.
