RACINE – The Racine Concert Band will present their summer season finale at 7 p.m. on Sunday August 15 at Racine Zoo, 2131 N. Main St.
The band’s 1501st free concert will feature bass-baritone Gregory Berg and band members Paul Taylor and Nancy Quist as soloists.
works presented, a postcard from the travels of French composer Emmanuel Chabrier, the âEspaÃ±a Rhapsodyâ and Franz von SuppÃ©’s overture to the comic operetta âJolly Robbersâ.
Berg, Director of Fine Arts at WGTD and Professor of Music at Carthage College, will perform an aria from Verdi’s “Simon Bocanegra” and “God bless you and keep you.” He returns on stage to sing the film music of Henry Mancini and Harold Arlen, “Moon River” and “Over the Rainbow”.
The program includes Gliere’s’ Red Poppy ‘Russian Sailors’ Dance and a George M. Cohan favorites medley. Walks by Joseph Olividati, JosÃ© Franco, Karl King and John Philip Sousa complete the program.
The doors on Walton Avenue and Augusta Street open for free admission to the concert at 6:30 pm A courtesy cart is available before and after the concert. People should bring seats.
